History
The Exotic Shorthair was developed in the United States by crossing Persians with American Shorthairs and other shorthaired breeds to create a Persian-type cat with a manageable coat. It became popular as a lower-maintenance Persian.

The Exotic Shorthair is sweet, mellow, and devoted, generally good with children and other pets. It is quieter and calmer than many breeds, enjoying gentle play and lap time, and it adapts well to relaxed indoor life.
