The Peterbald is a slender, elegant Russian breed known for a hair-loss gene that produces coats ranging from fully bald to a short, suede-like “brush.” With its oriental body and large ears, it has a refined, exotic appearance.

History
The Peterbald was created in Russia in the 1990s by crossing the hairless Donskoy with Oriental Shorthairs, producing an elegant, oriental-bodied hairless cat. Named for St. Petersburg, it remains a relatively rare breed.

The Peterbald is warm, interactive, and playful, thriving on companionship and attention. It bonds intensely with its family, often described as dog-like, and does poorly when left alone for long periods.
