The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is a versatile hunting breed developed to point and retrieve on land and water, protected by a harsh, weatherproof coat and a distinctive bearded, bushy-browed face. It hunts close and methodically.

History
Developed in the late 19th century by Dutch breeder Eduard Korthals, the breed was created as an all-purpose walking-hunter's gundog for varied terrain and game. Its close-working style and versatility earned it a devoted following.
