The Azawakh is a strikingly slender sighthound from the Sahel region of West Africa, where it has served nomadic peoples as a hunter, guardian, and companion. Its high tuck-up, long legs, and visible musculature reflect a build made for speed over desert terrain.

History
Bred for centuries by nomadic groups such as the Tuareg across Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, the Azawakh coursed game like gazelle and guarded camps. It reached the wider world only in the late 20th century and remains relatively rare.
